How to Lock and Erase data from your lost Android device

Unluckily, in case, we lose our android phone or devices. But, there was some insightful and very important personal and official data stored.

There are many app available on the Google app store to prevent snooping target from getting to that data and to help you locate a missing device. Here, we show you on how to remove the content, lock the device, play sound and may be helpful to recover the phone.

The option “Find My Device” is by default kept on for Android devices. For this feature to work, make sure that your device is turned on and signed in to a Gmail Account, Internet is connected either by data or Wi-Fi. As your device is shown in ‘Find my Device’, you will see your device’s last location, and the android device receive a notification.

Step 1: Browse the link android.com/find

Step 2: Sign in to your Google Account which is integrated in your android device.

Step 3: The list of android devices you use will be shown on the top. User having more than one device, need to select the device which they want to locate and erase their data.

Step 4: At the right hand side, on the map, you can see location of the device.

Step 5: If current location of the device is not seen, it shows available last location.

Step 6: You will be shown options like — Sound, Lock and Erase.
Click on Play sound, where your device will ring for 5 minutes, even if it’s set to silent or vibrate.
Click on lock, it locks your device and display message or phone number. Separately, you can add a recovery message or phone number to the lock screen.
Click on Erase, it will erase all content from the device. You will no longer be able to locate it.
